On March 24th, Dr Gene Huang, Vice President and Chief Economist of Abbott, visited SEPKU with Mr. Claude Burcky, Ms. Marie Kissel and Mr. Lv Qiang. Prof. Sun Qixiang, Dean of SEPKU received the guests, accompanied by Dr Qin Xuezheng, Assistant Dean for Foreign Affairs of SEPKU. Dean Sun introduced the general information and more than 100 years’ history of SEPKU brieflyto the guests and presented the signature book <the Chinese Economy in the Eyes of the Ambassador>.
Then Dr Gene Huang delivered a speech “Observations of a Business Economist on the Global Outlook, Health Care & Innovation”. He reviewed current global trends in areas such as growth, demographics, productivity, currency and commodities, how these trends impact the business environment, and how economics contributes to evidence-based business decisions. Gene shared his observations on the role of health care in the global economy, and the role of business economists inside a multinational corporation. He also touched upon expectations for growth and the importance of innovation in the 4th Industrial Revolution. Dr Qin Xuezheng hosted the speech.
