On December 6, the 15th anniversary of public finance department of School of Economics Peking University was held in academic lecture hall of School of Economics. More than 150 people including college leaders, teachers and students of public finance department, and guests from all walks of life get together to celebrate the 15th birthday of Public Finance department. The activity was hosted by associate professor Jiang Yunyun of public finance department.

 

Before the activity, the personnel watched the theme video which reviewed the origin of public finance department and its 15 years’ development history, and expressed the blessing and expectation of all teachers and students of public finance department.

 

Professor Sun Qixiang, Dean of School of Economics of Peking University made a speech at the ceremony. She reviewed the tradition of public finance studies in Peking University since 1902 and the development history since the public finance department was built 15 years ago, and expressed praise to the work of the department faculty. Dean Sun also specifically cited "ABCD" which describes the students of public finance department: Active, Balanced, Cooperative, Dedicated. Dean Sun expressed her gratitude and blessings to the alumni who supported the development of public finance department.

 

 

Professor Liu Yi, chair of public finance department, introduced public finance’s ideological inheritance in Peking University in the last century, and expressed the gratitude to guests and warmly welcomed the alumni back to the family. The address was brief, strong and passionate.

 

 

Yang Ruijin, Deputy director of Treasury Department of Ministry of Finance, addressed as the guest representative, to congratulate the 15th anniversary of public finance department of Peking University, expressed gratitude to public finance department for a long time to cultivate a large number of talented students for China`s public finance field. At the same time, he wishes public finance department make greater achievements in theoretical research and personnel cultivation.

 

Alumni representative, undergraduate students of class 2006, Liang Shaohui looked back on his learning and life experience and expressed his love and blessing of public finance department. He said graduated student would always be a part of public finance department, and they will use practical action to actively support the development of public finance department. Current student representative, undergraduate student Guo Ziqian, said the public finance department was one of the most correct choices in her life.

 

2014 "Zeyuan scholarship" and "Future CFO elite scholarship" was awarded in anniversary activity. Jiang Yunyun, on behalf of department of public finance, expressed gratitude to the donors. Student representatives, undergraduate student Liu Wenchao made an award-winning speech.

 

To promote the development of public finance department, enhance alumni contacts and strengthen scientific research, talent cultivation and academic exchange, department of public finance set up alumni society and council. Dong Ruifang, undergraduate student of department of public finance, graduated in 2005, briefly introduced alumni society’s regulation and operation mode.

 

 

In the final stage of the anniversary celebration, “finance children of Peking University” public welfare practice plan was launched. The launching ceremony was hosted by associate professor Yuan Cheng, deputy director of department of public finance, who put forward the project, aiming to build a public platform where the students and alumni of the department can pass on knowledge of economics and public finance to children in the whole country to improve the overall financial literacy of the future Chinese population.

 

The anniversary activity kept video connection with Shenzhen branch in through the whole process. Alumni in Shenzhen passed on the most sincere birthday wishes.

 

Students of public finance department prepared wonderful performance programs for the ceremony. After the programs, exchange meeting of teachers, students and alumni were held. Alumni from government agencies, financial institutions, foreign enterprises and other various industries shared their work experience, career advice and comprehension of life with everyone.
